“Most of our Heritage Days, we have attracted around 500 people,” says Sandy Rieker, McKenzie County Heritage Association director.
After getting rained out in 2019 and interrupted by COVID-19 in 2020, all bets are on as this year’s 23rd Heritage Day will take place on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Park, located at 950 2nd Ave. SW in Watford City.
“We’ll have vendors, burgers, hot dogs, a cherry pie eating contest and a silent auction,” Rieker says.
While that’s just a few of the events planned, Rieker says many other usual attractions will be featured at this year’s Heritage Day event.
“We’ll have things throughout the day,” she says. “We’ll have our folk school and Lane Sandstrom will be providing our music.”
This year, Rieker says the Rough Rider Center will be bringing games to the event.
