“There was definitely a lot of people,” says Mary Gumke, Watford City Area Chamber of Commerce executive director, of Watford City’s Parade of Lights parade on Nov. 25.
For many members in the community of Watford City, Parade of Lights is considered the second best event of the year and from the sound of it, this year did not disappoint.
“The weather was good. So when the weather is nice, more people come out,” Gumke says. “We had lots of entries for floats.”
Gumke guesses that there were approximately 25 floats.
“We want to thank everybody that participated and everybody that came out to watch,” she says.
First International Bank & Trust won the award for “Parade Theme” and McKenzie Electric Cooperative won the award for “Best Use of Lights.”
After the parade, a traditional fire works show was held at the end of South Main.
Alexander Christmas Walk
Those who enjoy Hallmark movies were able to eat their hearts out last Thursday as Alexander held its second annual Alexander Christmas Walk on the city’s Main Street.
“Last year, more than one person said, ‘this is amazing, it reminds me of a Hallmark Christmas,’” says Sheri Pelser, Alexander Activities Club president.
