Man charged with shooting inside local hotel

Watford City Police Department (WCPD) responded to a call of shots fired on Feb. 22, at 10:26 p.m. The call was placed from a hotel in the 600 block of 3rd Ave. SW, and the caller reported hearing five gunshots in the parking lot.
According to court documents, when officers arrived at the scene they did not notice anything unusual, and began to canvas the area. Sgt. Samuel Forstie entered the hotel and spoke to the employee at the front desk. She advised him that she heard multiple gunshots just outside the front doors, and a guest of the hotel said he thought the gunshots sounded like they were coming from inside the building.
