Betty Lee, 61, of Sidney, Mont., was killed in a car accident on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, approximately six miles south of Williston.
Lee was driving northbound on Highway 85 in a 2008 Ford F-150. According to the reports, Lee lost control of her vehicle as she approached a turn just north of the weigh station and slid into oncoming traffic.
Lee’s vehicle entered the southbound lanes and struck a 2021 Ram 5500 head on. The highway was covered with ice last Monday and has been reported to likely be a contributing factor in the accident.
Lee was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The 31-year-old driver of the Ram had been wearing his seat belt and was uninjured.
Multiple agencies responded to the accident including North Dakota Highway Patrol, McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office, William’s County Sheriff’s Office, Williston Rural Fire Department, Williston Ambulance, and North Dakota Department of Transportation.
