Wallace Croff

Wallace Croff, 87, of Spearfish, S.D., died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at his home in Spearfish.
Wallace was born on April 12, 1924, in Watford City, N.D., to Sidney and Grace (Lillibridge) Croff. He graduated from Watford City High School and continued to farm and ranch in the area. He later went on to operate various businesses in Watford City. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers during World War II. After being honorable discharged in 1946, he returned from the war and married Ila Mae Hansen. In the early 70s, they moved to Spearfish, where they operated Bell’s Motor Lodge until retirement. He has been living with his son for the past 10 years.
Wally is survived by his son, Paige Croff of Spearfish; six grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Meshanna, Lorr, Stephanie and Scott; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Ember.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ila Mae, son Ward, and grandson Daniel.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery.
