Watford City’s boys and girls high school golf teams wrapped up their golf season on May 28 and 29 as they competed at the State Class B Golf Tournament.
The boys tournament was played at the Prairie West Golf Course in Mandan, while the girls team competed at the Tom O’Leary Golf Course in Bismarck.
During the two-day tournament, the Watford City boys team finished in 17th place with a score of 763, while the Watford City girls team finished in 18th place with a score of 916.
“The long holes, narrow fairways and lateral hazards at Prairie West presented challenges for my golfers that they hadn’t seen all season,” stated Scott Wisness, boys’ head coach.
For the boys team, Alex Hansen led the Wolves with a two-day score of 182, followed by Colter Maki with an 184.
Also scoring for the Wolves boys team was Charles Villanueva, 191; Jonathan Dunn, 209; Cody Johnson, 213; and Devyn Marquardt, 215.
“I was happy that we improved our team score on the second day. Competing at State was a good experience, especially for my younger golfers and will better prepare our team for next season.”
On the girls side, Brea Jore led the Wolves with a two-day score of 220, followed by Jordan Sparby with a 227.
Also scoring for the Watford City girls team was Allison Monsen, 232; Jayden White Owl, 241; Kasi Sorenson, 247; and Sydney Slais, 250.
