Oiler girls take fifth in 19U state tourney

The Watford City Oilers 19U girls hockey team wrapped up its 2021-22 season with a fifth finish defeating Crosby, 5-3, at the 19U State Tournament in Mandan.
The Oilers entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed and was the second highest scoring team in the state with 94 goals in league play.
The Oilers opened the tournament against the No. 4-ranked Bottineau/Rugby and skated to a 5-4 loss.
Bottineau would score first, but the Oilers would answer back quickly with a goal by Eastyn Wold on an assist from Gracie Hall.
The two teams traded goals in the second period with  Gracie Hall tying the score, 2-2, on an assist from Kayden Samuelson. But Bottineau/Rugby would score the next three goals before Gracie Hall would cut their deficit to two goals with a wraparound goal on an Eastyn Wold assist with one second left in the second period.
