The Walleye 18U put together an impressive weekend stretch, collecting four decisive wins behind explosive offense, aggressive base running and standout individual performances.
Leahy Drives in Four in
Rout of Glasgow Reds B
Isaiah Leahy powered the offense as The Walleye 18U rolled to a 19-5 win over Glasgow Reds B on June 12. Leahy drove in four runs on two hits, including a pair of triples that highlighted a dominant showing at the plate.
The Walleye set the tone early, scoring in the first inning and expanding the lead with a multi-run second. The game broke wide open in the third when The Walleye plated nine runs on five hits, with Leahy’s bases-clearing triple serving as the key blow.
Erin Luna earned the win, striking out four in two innings of work. Carter Branstrom and Harper Moberg each collected three hits as part of a 13-hit team effort, while The Walleye also showed patience with nine walks and aggressive base running with seven stolen bases.
Leahy Stays Hot in Win Over
Upper Deck Expos A
Leahy continued his strong day at the plate in a 16-4 victory over Upper Deck Expos A later on June 12, collecting three hits in three at-bats.
After falling behind early, The Walleye responded in the second inning and took control in the third, aided by a Braylen Tolbert home run and several walks and hit batters. A six-run fifth inning sealed the win.
Bradley Clark earned the victory on the mound, striking out eight over four innings while allowing just one hit. Branstrom, Joseph Brothers and Leahy each recorded three hits, with Branstrom and Leahy driving in three runs apiece. The Walleye again applied pressure on the bases with six steals.
Tolbert Leads the Way Against Glendive Blue Devils B
On June 13, Braylen Tolbert delivered a standout performance in an 11-1 win over Glendive Blue Devils B. Tolbert recorded three hits - a triple, double and single - while helping spark an early offensive surge.
The Walleye jumped ahead with three runs in the first inning and never looked back, capitalizing on defensive miscues and timely hitting to build its lead.
Brandon Spacher picked up the win, allowing just one run over three innings while striking out five. Tolbert added two scoreless innings in relief. He and Bradley Clark each tallied three hits, while Erin Luna chipped in two. The Walleye was especially aggressive on the basepaths, swiping 12 bases in the game.
Walleye Rallies Past UD Expos 14U in High-Scoring Battle
The Walleye capped the weekend with a 13-10 comeback victory over UD Expos 14U in a back-and-forth contest on June 13.
After building an early lead, The Walleye fell behind 9-5 in the second inning before responding with a steady offensive push. The team tied the game in the third behind a mix of walks, a passed ball and a run-scoring single from Leahy.
The Walleye’s persistence paid off as it continued to chip away and eventually regain control in a game that featured hits and momentum swings on both sides.
