Watford City’s boys and girls track teams were able to get in one meet last week as the Wolves competed at the Williston Rescue Indoor Meet on Friday, April 22. The boys team finished in second place with 107 points, while the girls team finished in fifth place with 51 points.
With much of western North Dakota buried under back-to-back snowstorms, Dave Gumke, boys head coach, is hoping to find outdoor meets somewhere in the state that they can compete in.
“We are close to qualifying several events,” stated Gumke. “We just need a good day at an outdoor meet.”
At Williston, the boys 800 and 1,600 meter relay teams took first place, while Dakota Cluchie took second in the 60 meter dash, Jalen Strickland took second in the high jump and Aaron Cutshall took second in the triple jump.
In the girls division, Watford City’s 1,600 meter relay team took first place, while Jessica Mogen took second in the 400 meter dash.
