Wolves split in volleyball action

Watford City’s varsity volleyball team split in district play this past week as the Wolves swept Trinity Christian in three games on Oct. 5, before falling to Trenton on Thursday, Oct. 8.
This week, the Wolves will be on the road as they travel to Dickinson Trinity on Thursday and then travel to Powers Lake on Saturday.

Watford City 3, Trinity Christian 0
Watford City made short work of Trinity Christian Oct. 5 as the Wolves swept the Crusaders in three quick games, 25-8, 25-14 and 25-17.
Katie Mogen led the Wolves offensively with nine kills and seven blocks, while ReiAnn Lindley and Kaytlyn Grimes had two service aces each.
Individual statistics for Watford City from the match were as follows:
Kills: Katie Mogen, 9; Ricki Lindley, 8; Mackenzie Sparby, 5; Kaytlyn Grimes, 4.
Assists: Alli Mogen, 10; ReiAnn Lindley, 10.

Trenton 3, Watford City 2
In a battle between the top two volleyball teams in the district last Thursday, Trenton emerged as the winner in a hard-fought game.
The Wolves took the first game of the five-game match, 25-16, before the Tigers battled back to take the next two games, 25-22 and 25-21.
Watford City would take the fourth game, 25-17, with Trenton battling back from a big deficit to take the fifth and final game, 18-16.
Katie Mogen led the Wolves offensively with 19 kills and two service aces, while ending the game with 12 digs and six blocks.
Alli Mogen had 18 assists for the Wolves.
