Bakken branded as a mature oil play by industry

Lynn Helms, North Dakota Oil and Gas Division director, had some very sobering news on what is happening, or not happening, in the state’s oil patch during his monthly Director’s Cut on Monday, Feb. 14
“The Bakken has been rebranded, whether we want it to be or not, as mature,” stated Helms, following his recent visit with 10 of the state’s biggest oil producers at an industry conference in Houston. “We are looking at very low rates of growth with some companies just holding their production flat.”
According to Helms, oil producers in the United States are now more focused on increasing their operations in the Permian Basin in Texas and New Mexico.
