School district approves $5.5 million improvements for middle school

Watford City’s Middle School has served a lot of purposes since it was built some 40 years ago as the Watford City High School. As the district’s enrollment increased and a new high school building was built in 2016, the facility became the catch-all to handle elementary school, middle school and junior high students that couldn’t be accommodated in other buildings.
But when the district opened the Fox Hills Elementary School in 2021, the district began to consider what needed to be done to the former high school to make it a true Middle School.
