Students attending school in Watford City and Alexander will be receiving free meals this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Steve Holen, McKenzie County Public School District No. 1 superintendent, the funding for the free meals is coming from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is an extension of the agency’s Summer Food Service Program.
The free meal program is being offered to all students regardless of their income level or if they are in the classroom or taking part in distance learning.
According to Leslie Bieber, Alexander Public School District No. 2 superintendent, Alexander will be offering both breakfast and lunch to its students, but won’t be delivering those meals to distance learning students.
