Douglas “Doug” Kummer

Doug Kummer, 70, of Keene, N.D., died on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at his home.
Doug was born on Feb. 27, 1950, in Watford City, N.D., to Louis and Lillian Veysey Kummer. He was raised on the family farm in the Watford City/Keene area, and he attended and graduated from elementary and high School in Mandaree, N.D. Doug worked for various farmers and ranchers when he was younger, and then in the oil field throughout his life. In September of 1969, he married Jackie Thomas and to this union a daughter, Melissa, and a son, Travis, were born. Years later he met and married Aggie Belcourt in 1987.
Doug particularly enjoyed the gardening life in the summer time, and always shared his creation with whoever wanted anything. He also enjoyed fishing and telling stories to anyone that showed up to visit.
Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lillian Kummer; siblings, Fern (Don) Snell, Cindy (Gary) Hicks, Jerome Kummer, David Kummer, Stanley Kummer, Clayton Kummer; nieces, Colleen Norby, Cleo Ennis, and Charlotte Walton; nephew, Chad Running; and grandson, Levi Frick.
He is survived by his children, Melissa (Duane) Frick of Watford City, N.D., and Travis Kummer, of Keene, N.D.; grandchildren, Shadow Heckert of Casper, Wyo., Cody Kummer of Riverton, Wyo, Dakota Frick and Sierra Frick of Watford City, N.D.; brothers, Kenny (Kathy) Kummer of Keene, N.D., Miles Kummer of Keene, N.D., and Mike (Betty) Kummer of Keene, N.D.; sisters, Lorraine (John) Walton of Lovington, N.M., Gladys (James) Greggory of Midland, Texas, Shirley (Robert) Lovaas of Watford City, N.D., Loretta Anderson of Watford City, N.D., Debbie (Randy) Running of Mesquite, Nev., Donna (Kelly) Berg of Valdosta, Ga., Linda (Jerry) Wilson of Tacoma, Wash.; sister-in-law, Leveta Kummer; and numerous nieces; and nephews.
Funeral services for Doug Kummer, 70, of Keene, N.D., were held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at the First Lutheran Church in Keene with Pastors Rob Schmidt and Jason Gressman officiating. Remembrances, condolences and pictures may be shared with the family at www.fulkersons.com.
