Watford City’s varsity girls golf team took first place in a weather-shortened Ray Invitational last Thursday.
“We battled the wind and cold weather for nine holes before the tournament was ended,” stated Kelli Jo Taylor, girls’ head coach.
Shaunta Miller and Emilie Anderson paced the girls team with second and third place finishes individually.
The following Monday, the Wolves kept their winning streak alive as Watford City won the New Town Invitational with a team score of 443.
“The team golfed well,” stated Taylor. “However, I would like to see our team score down below 400, as our best score this year is a 398.”
Individually, Emilie Anderson took fourth place with a score of 104.
“Seniors Emilie Anderson and Shaunta Miller have really played a big role on our team this year,” states Taylor. “They golf consistently every meet and keep our team score down and  Jordan Sparby, a sophomore, has really stepped it up this year.  Her scores have also been a big contributor to our team score.”
Other Watford City scores from the New Town Invitational were Shaunta Miller, 109; Jordan Sparby, 113; Allison Monsen, 117; Sydney Slais, 117; and Amanda Anderson, 122.
