While Watford City only sent 11 athletes to this year’s State Class A Track Meet, the Wolves finished on the podium four times as Jaelyn Ogle placed second in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 11:08.62, and sixth in the  1,600 meter run with a time of 5:17.64.
Ogle earned all of Watford City’s 11 points for the girls team, and led the Wolves to a 16th place at State.
In a big disappointment for the girls team, Macee Franz snapped one of the metatarsals in her foot as she qualified in the 400 meter run a few weeks before the State Meet. As a result, not only did she miss out on competing individually at State, but also wasn’t able to compete on the 1,600 meter relay team.
“We had run one of the fastest times in the 1,600 meter relay and hoped to place high at State” stated Richard Rust, girls head coach. “But she was unable to run as it is not healing. We really missed her speed, but still placed 10th in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter relays.”
